Integrations
Hero Mancer is built for the D&D 5e system and recognizes a handful of companion modules when they are installed. Each integration below activates on its own when the matching module is active, and stays out of the way when it is not.
D&D 5e system (required)
Section titled “D&D 5e system (required)”Hero Mancer runs on top of the D&D 5e system. The creation wizard skins the system’s own advancement flow. The class, subclass, species, and background steps are the same advancement choices D&D 5e would normally present, wrapped in the wizard layout. Race, class, and item details come straight from your enabled compendiums. See the D&D 5e integration page for the full picture.
Two system-level touch points are worth knowing:
- Spellcasting focuses. Items you add under the Custom Spellcasting Focus setting are merged into the system’s focus list. They show up alongside the standard focuses in the equipment shop.
- Advancement automation. The wizard relies on D&D 5e’s advancement automation. If that automation is turned off, you receive a private chat card with an Enable button that switches it back on.
Spell Book (recommended)
Section titled “Spell Book (recommended)”When the Spell Book module is installed, spell selection for caster characters is handed off to Spell Book after creation finishes. Once the wizard wraps up, Spell Book opens so the player can pick spells with its dedicated tools.
A player who would rather choose spells later can opt out. Ticking Don’t open Spell Book after character creation during setup finishes the wizard without launching it. Spell Book can still be opened from the character sheet at any time.
Tokenizer 2 (optional)
Section titled “Tokenizer 2 (optional)”Hero Mancer integrates with Tokenizer 2 by MrPrimate (module id tokenizer-2). The legacy vtta-tokenizer module is not supported.
Turn on the Tokenizer Compatibility setting. When Tokenizer 2 is active, the wizard opens its standalone portrait and token editor straight from creation. The editor arrives pre-loaded with the character’s name and portrait. The art and token settings saved there are applied to the new character.
Dice So Nice (recommended)
Section titled “Dice So Nice (recommended)”With Dice So Nice installed, ability score rolls during creation can show 3D dice. Each player controls this through the Enable 3D Dice for Ability Rolls setting, found on the Experience tab. The setting is per-player. One person can watch animated dice while another rolls without them.
This option only appears while Dice So Nice is active. See Ability Scores for how rolling works during creation.
Calendaria (optional)
Section titled “Calendaria (optional)”When the Calendaria module is active, Hero Mancer adds birthday and age features tied to your world’s calendar:
- The Start tab gains a Character birthday picker built from the active calendar. The month and day options match the real number of days in each month. The default year sits roughly twenty-five years before the current in-world date.
- The Start tab also shows a live, read-only age preview in whole years beside the birthday picker, updated as the date changes. The Biography tab’s Age field is a plain editable text input pre-filled with the derived age. It stays in sync with the Start-tab picker, and typing an age there back-fills the birth year.
- On creation, a yearly birthday note with a cake icon is added to your calendar under Calendaria’s built-in birthday preset.
If Calendaria is not installed, none of these elements appear and creation proceeds normally. See the Calendaria integration page for details.
