3 Death Saves

Getting Started

Peddler turns an NPC actor into a shop that players visit in person. A player talks to the shopkeeper through branching dialogue, builds a cart, and checks out. You configure everything from the actor’s sheet.

Peddler requires Foundry VTT v14. Install it through the Foundry setup screen and enable it in your world.

Open an NPC actor’s sheet and click “Create Peddler Shop” in the window header. A dialog asks you to pick an archetype for the shop. An archetype installs a ready-made dialogue tree, a matching theme, and stock behavior on the actor. The archetypes are described on Shop Archetypes.

Choosing “Blank shop” instead creates a minimal starter tree and opens it in the dialogue editor.

Confirm with “Set up shop”. Peddler creates a journal entry named after the actor to hold the dialogue tree. Players read the tree from that journal, so leave it in place. After setup the header button reads “Peddler Shop” and opens the shop’s settings window.

Drag Items or an Item folder onto the shop actor. Everything in the actor’s inventory becomes stock the shopkeeper can sell. The settings window’s Stock tab controls quantities and how sold items come back. See Stock and Restocking for the full stocking workflow.

Place the shop actor’s token in a scene. A player right-clicks the token to enter the shop. Peddler resolves the buyer from the player’s assigned character, or from a token they control or target. The player then sees a full-screen vignette over the canvas. The shopkeeper greets them, they choose replies, browse wares, and fill a cart. The vignette is covered on The Vignette.

Checkout commits the trade on your client. A GM must be connected for purchases to complete. Gold and items move between the two actors in one transaction.

To walk through the shop yourself, use the “Open Peddler Shop” button on the shop token’s HUD, or Shift right-click the token.
