Open the YouTube Browser
Section titled “Open the YouTube Browser”The film button with the Import from YouTube tooltip opens the YouTube Browser. It sits in the Moods tab header and in the Soundboard header on the Ambience tab.
Add a video
Section titled “Add a video”Paste a YouTube link or video ID into the top field and click Add. Adding by link needs no API key.
Searching YouTube from inside Foundry needs a YouTube Data API v3 key in the YouTube API Key setting. With a key, a Search YouTube field appears under the link field.
Each row in the list has three buttons:
- Preview plays the video for everyone.
- Add as mood creates a mood named after the video. Applying the mood plays the video, and stopping the mood stops it.
- Add as pad creates a soundboard pad that plays the video.
The Video window
Section titled “The Video window”When a video starts, the Video window opens for every connected user. Players see the video without YouTube’s player controls. You get YouTube’s controls and a bar with a link field, a Load button that plays a pasted link for everyone, a stop button, and an Open in its own window button.
A player who joins or reloads while a video is playing sees it only after the video’s state next changes. Pause and resume the video to bring them in.
Playback sync
Section titled “Playback sync”Pause and resume with YouTube’s controls in your Video window. Each player’s video follows, and any player who has drifted jumps back to your position. Minstrel’s volume faders and channels do not change video sound.
Stop a video
Section titled “Stop a video”While a video plays and no playlist track is playing, the console transport shows the video title with the Video label and a film icon. For video, the transport has a stop button but no scrub bar or pause button. The Now Playing bar can also show the video, and only the GM sees its stop button.
Stopping from the Video window, the transport, or the Now Playing bar ends the video and closes the Video window for everyone.
