Minstrel
Start here
Section titled “Start here”Getting started covers installation and opening the console.
Migrating from VGMusic brings your existing scene, token, and actor music assignments across.
Highlights
Section titled “Highlights”Album library
Section titled “Album library”The Music tab lists your music playlists as album tiles, and the Ambience tab lists the ambient and SFX playlists. Favorites sort to the front of the grid. Open a tile for its numbered track list and play from there.
True crossfade
Section titled “True crossfade”Turn on crossfade for a playlist and the next track starts before the current one ends. It applies to playlists set to sequential or shuffle. The active GM schedules the overlap.
Soundboard with ducking
Section titled “Soundboard with ducking”The soundboard sits under the album grid on the Ambience tab. A pad fires a one-shot on the interface channel for everyone. A pad can be set to duck the music channel while it plays.
A mood starts a set of playlists together and can stop everything else that is playing. It can also fire sound effects that repeat at random intervals, and trigger a Syrinscape mood or element. Moods can be assigned as cues.
Scene, combat, and actor music
Section titled “Scene, combat, and actor music”A cue points a scene, actor, token, or the global fallback at a playlist, a single track, or a mood. Scenes take an area cue and a combat cue. Actors, tokens, and the global fallback take a combat cue. When several cues apply at once, priority and the combat turn decide which one plays.
Resume where it left off
Section titled “Resume where it left off”When a cue change stops a playlist, Minstrel records the playing track and its position. Bringing that playlist back starts the marked track from where it stopped.
Mixing rack with real meters
Section titled “Mixing rack with real meters”The Mixer tab gives every playing playlist a fader, a stop button, and a next-track button. Below the rack sit Foundry’s three audio channels, each with a fader, a mute button, and a meter. The meters read live band levels from the audio engine.
Docking now-playing bar
Section titled “Docking now-playing bar”The now-playing bar shows the current track to players as well as the GM. Drag it to a screen edge and it docks there. It carries a music volume slider, plus the transport buttons and a seek bar for the GM.
Syrinscape
Section titled “Syrinscape”With an auth token, Minstrel triggers Syrinscape Online moods and one-shots. A browser lists your soundsets and adds an entry as a Minstrel mood or a pad. That audio plays on your own Syrinscape player, not through Foundry.
VGMusic migration
Section titled “VGMusic migration”Minstrel is the successor to Video Game Music. Scene, token, and actor assignments made in VGMusic are ported to cues once. While Minstrel is active, VGMusic leaves playback alone and keeps its own configuration UI.
