Bracket Rolloff

When exactly three combatants tie on initiative, Rollies switches from the pair rolloff to a bracket tournament. The three tied participants play a two-round single-elimination ladder, and the last combatant standing takes the slot.

The bracket is seeded by dexterity, lowest first. The two lowest seeds play the opening match. The winner advances to the final match against the third seed.

Every tied combatant opens a dialog titled “Tournament Bracket Rolloff!” that shows the full ladder. All participants watch the bracket update as matches resolve, portraits fill in, and roll totals appear next to each name. Only the two combatants in the active match are prompted to roll. The bracket marks the current match, and a combatant still waiting sees a “Round” label and an “Awaiting winner from previous match” placeholder where their opponent will appear.

Matches resolve one at a time. Both active combatants roll the configured die, the higher total wins, and the bracket records the result. The opening-match winner advances to the final match against the third seed. The bracket is always two matches across two rounds.

A combatant who loses a match is not dismissed from the dialog. The footer switches to spectator mode with the banner “You’ve been eliminated - spectating remaining matches” and the supporting line “Watching the remaining tournament matches…”. The countdown timer disappears and the roll controls hide. The eliminated player keeps watching the rest of the bracket.

The combatant who wins the final match takes the contested initiative slot. When Show Winner Announcements is enabled in settings, the winner popup appears for everyone with the winner’s portrait and new initiative value before closing on its own. The winner receives a small initiative bonus so their slot resolves above the rest of the original tie group.

Bracket matches use the same resolution rule as pair rolloffs. When the two combatants in a match roll the same number, that match repeats with a fresh roll. The rest of the bracket waits until the match produces a clear winner before advancing.
