Quick Start
When two or more combatants roll the same initiative value before combat starts, Rollies detects the tie, prompts the tied players to roll a die, and applies a +0.01 initiative bonus to the winner. The combat tracker reorders to reflect the result. This page assumes the module is already installed and enabled (see Installation).
First use
Section titled “First use”- Have all combatants roll initiative as normal.
- Rollies watches the tracker and flags any duplicate initiative values once every relevant combatant has rolled.
- The tied players receive a roll dialog titled “Initiative Rolloff” showing their opponent and the die to roll.
- Players click “Roll Dice”, or get auto-rolled when the timeout expires. Results stream into the dialog as players roll.
- The highest roll wins and gets a +0.01 initiative bonus, reordering the tracker. If the rolloff produces another tie, the tied players roll again until resolved. You still start combat manually.
For Players
Section titled “For Players”A player whose combatant is part of a tie sees a dialog headed “Initiative Showdown!” for a 1v1, or “Tournament Bracket Rolloff!” for three or more combatants. The dialog shows the player’s portrait, the opponent’s portrait or the full bracket, the die type, and a countdown timer labelled “Time Remaining:”. The player clicks “Roll Dice” before the timer reaches zero. When a player does not roll in time, Rollies rolls for them and posts the result to chat. After the roll, the player’s card switches to show the roll value while the other participants finish. In a bracket, the match cell shows the roll the same way. Eliminated bracket participants drop into spectator mode and watch the remaining matches.
For details on each format, see Pair Rolloff and Bracket Rolloff. For how ties are picked up, see Tie Detection.
For GMs
Section titled “For GMs”Rollies has two trigger modes, controlled by the “Auto-trigger Rolloffs” setting.
Auto-trigger (default). When ties are detected, Rollies opens the player dialogs immediately. You do not need to confirm anything. Initiative updates as each rolloff resolves.
Manual approval. With auto-trigger disabled, Rollies shows you a GM notification dialog titled “Initiative Ties Detected” listing every tied initiative value and the combatants involved. You then choose:
- Start Rolloffs: open the player dialogs and run the rolloffs.
- Keep Current Initiative: dismiss the dialog and leave the tracker as-is.
